This year has been just a little more challenging for all marketers, and particularly those that have been working on the biggest Christmas advertising campaigns, celebrated and scrutinised by people up and down the country in equal measure.
As we continue to adapt to the new normal and ongoing uncertainty, it is interesting to observe how the big brands have struck a balance between sharing the love, the ongoing distancing measures, and giving – and ultimately the emotional connection gained with viewers, all without knowing what Christmas will actually look like.

Not on the high street
There is a common theme amongst all these campaigns, the majority filled with animation and lack of gatherings, but equally sharing joy. In contrast other brands such as Gucci have taken the approach of the traditional office party.
During 2020, certain businesses have become more relied on, such as Deliveroo, and this shines through in their advert.
